It's another big week, filled with closing ceremonies, new cycles, and fresh coats of paint for the Mercury & Venus-y parts of life. Venus leaves dingy Virgo (sorry but I have to speak my truth) and enters the University of Servington in Cuntopolis, otherwise known as Libra. Mercury trades intense conversations (Scorpio) for ones that are a little too good to be true when they enter Sagittarius. More descriptions from the Anthology of Hellenistic astrologer Vettius Valens are included, as well as many sighs accompanying the mentions of Saturn this week. A lot is happening, many preferable moments and many unpreferable events. Whatever you do, don't! lose! hope! <3 Happy reading. <3
Monday, November 6th
The Moon finishes out her business in the sign of the Sun’s home (Leo) before entering Virgo at 11:39am PDT, shifting our gears to focus on scheduling, finance, travel details, and the words we write. The sign of Virgo is Mercury-ruled, so we get many associations with the planet Mercury while the fast-changing Moon journeys through the sign. Vettius Valens outlines significations for the planet Mercury below:
“Mercury indicates education, letters, disputation, reasoning, brotherhood, interpretation, embassies, number, accounts, geometry, markets, youth, games, theft, association, communication, service, gain, discoveries, obedience, sport, wrestling, declamation, certification, supervision, weighing and measuring, the testing of coinage, hearing, versatility.” (Anthology, Valens, Book 1, Pg. 2)
Unfortunately, there is a nasty undertone to this ingress, the planet Saturn casts her maleficent rays to the Moon. Saturn in Pisces brings limits, restrictions, bitterness, slowness, and fatigue to everything the Moon wishes to accomplish. It's a sluggish but BUSY Monday that wears us down with everything we have to keep track of.
Tuesday, November 7th
The Moon in Virgo escapes Saturn’s rays for Tuesday’s weather, showing the easing up of struggle to make way for grounded and constructive efforts. The Moon trines Jupiter in Taurus at 7:43am PDT, waking up the western seaboard on a positively grounding note that emphasizes friendship, large group, spirituality, higher learning, and the distribution of physical goods. Things that were blocked on Monday are able to pass through come Tuesday. This is great news if you’re a war boat set to deliver arms into the hands of a violent apartheid state but were blocked by American citizens with a working moral compass the day before.
Anyway! The Moon in Virgo also applies to Venus, but she will not conjoin her until Venus is in Libra- so maybe wait until Wednesday to make that booty call.
Additionally, the Moon sextiles the Sun in Scorpio, which makes for a good working relationship between intangible & tangible things. Look at the house topics represented by the sign Scorpio in your chart and see what house topics they are helping out (and vice versa) with the Virgo house in your chart.
For example: Moon in a Virgo 4th House (home, family, ancestors, land) sextile the Sun in a Scorpio 6th House (injury, health, pets) could be:
Receiving (Moon) a remedy (6th house) from your grandmother (4th house) to cure an unknown (Sun) illness (6th house).
Traveling (Moon) to your parent’s house (4th house) to walk their dog (6th house)
Finding (Moon) the popcorn vomit bowl (somehow both 4th & 6th house topic) just in time (sextile)

CW: Long rambles about Venus. <3
Venus!!!! FINALLY!!! Enters!!! LIBRA!!!! at 1:31am PDT making Wednesday already a better day. Especially for night chart people. :))))))
Venus has been DEBILITATED for months, let me tell you. First, she was in Leo (which we all love but Venus kind of detests- but not in the same way she detests Virgo) for-fucking-ever (June-October) where she went retrograde. (Yes this is why you saw your ex then! No it was not a cute sign!). Retrogrades are akin to a planet falling ill. Venus, planet of love, marriage, relationships, friendship, unions, sisters was ILL, BEDRIDDEN, CONTAGIOUS for a good chunk of 2023.
THEN, she entered Virgo. Virgo is the place of Venus' fall, opposite to her royal exaltation place of Pisces. Venus in Virgo definitely cooled off the tensions & high drama of the Venus in Leo season, but it did nothing to water the beds of romance & passion. Venus in Virgo picked and pruned what good things might have lingered, and definitely struck the world with a tone of insecurity & coldness when it came to Venus-y things. This is what Valens associates with Venus, (consider this list and see if you can determine what was a clusterfuck in the summer that turned cold & wrinkly come October):
“Venus is desire and love. It indicates the mother and nurture. It makes priesthoods, school superintendencies, high offices with the right to wear a gold ring or a crown, cheerfulness, friendship, companionship, the acquisition of property, the purchase of ornaments, agreements on favorable terms, marriages, pure trades, fine voices, a taste for music, sweet singing, beauty, painting, mixing of colors both in embroidery, dyeing, and unguent making.” (Anthology, Valens, Book 1, Pg. 1)
Okay okay, besides *this* the Moon does make aspects to both Mars & Mercury in Scorpio, reflecting professional conversations about war-like issues (gee wonder what that would be about) and the trading of practical resources.
Thursday, November 9th
The Moon enters Libra and conjoins Venus at 12:08am PDT. This is a lovely conjunction. A subtle (because the Moon is waning in light) but gorgeous display of love, flattery, affection, care, and art. Considering the gruesome nature of the imminent new moon, this is certainly the beautiful calm before the storm. Shoot your shot, tell your friends you love them, make some music, paint with vivid colors, prioritize softness & sweetness. The nature of the conjunction is more potent at night (this would be wednesday night for some), but it does ripple into the first half of Thursday.
Thursday night also brings mischief, Mercury leaves Scorpio and enters Sagittarius at 10”25pm PDT! Mercury has just spent the better part of October in a Mars-ruled sign, in close proximity to the war-bringer himself (Mars). Many of Mercury’s significations have been tainted by that of Mars, bringing: crude words, explicit messages, intensely focused conversations, and a drive to “get to the bottom of things” like we haven’t seen in a while.
Mercury in the robes of Sagittarius acts less like an investigative journalist (that would be Mercury in Scorpio) and more like a priest or televangelist. Mercury loses dignity in Jupiter's fiery home, since Sagittarius is the farthest sign from Mercury’s airy home, Gemini- making Mercury feel like they are at a loss for resources & guidance. Be wary of an increase of faith-based propaganda, and the distinct choice of words used to inaccurately portray real events. It is crucial that we re-read and critically analyze the media we consume!
Mercury’s position in Sagittarius and the potential harm of the alignment is further emphasized by Mercury making a harsh square to Saturn in Pisces. If we remember from earlier, Saturn brings limits, restrictions, bitterness, slowness, fatigue, and harsh reality checks. Something that might have seemed like “the right thing to say”earlier, might not fly with others come night time! Mutable sign people are most affected by this alignment (Gemini, Sag, Virgo, Pisces).
Friday, November 10th
Friday is just an extension of Thursday, and most of Thursday’s weather weaves into the fabric of Friday’s moments. The Moon in Libra conjoins the south node at 11:25pm PDT, making us feel WIPED OUT after lots of positive social interactions. Drink hot water to nurture your vocal folds and don’t feel bad about irish goodbyeing the function! ;)
Saturday, November 11th
Saturday comes at us like a truck with the Moon entering Scorpio at 10:40am PDT. The first part of our morning is socially fatigued, while the Moon’s ingress to the sign of her fall has our body’s catching up to how tired our minds feel. A new moon, new beginning, new cycle (etc) is imminent but not exactly here yet.
The Moon makes a trine to Saturn in Pisces, showing support in our lives from those older than us (or those who are dead!). Moon in Scorpio trine Saturn in Pisces can mean good things for good people, but also good things for bad people. Use discernment and don’t trust just anyone to be vulnerable with.
Saturday is certainly colored by the profound emotional connections we make, whether it be through art or through our hearts.
Sunday, November 12th
Though the New Moon is not exact until 1:27am PDT on Monday, we feel the pressures rising that go alongside this crude new beginning. The Moon applies to the Sun AND Mars in Scorpio all day, which really emphasizes the Sunday scaries that prevail nonetheless. Mars brings disruption, separation, injury, sudden attacks, robbery, and fear (to name a few).
Mars in Scorpio still brings all of those things, but specifically in introverted, intense/focused, watery, stubborn, and cold ways. The Scorpio New Moon is colored by these themes, so plan on it reflecting a memorable moment (for better or for worse) of 2023.
Look to see what house topics are represented by the sign Scorpio in your chart to see how this New Moon will manifest for you. Stay safe & keep hope!
